Book 7 - 2019

Book 7: Saga: Volume 4 by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples - 152 pages

Description from bookdepository.co.uk:
Visit new planets, meet new adversaries, and explore a very new direction as Hazel becomes a toddler, while her family struggles to stay on their feet.

Thoughts:
Volume 4 does a bit of a time skip and we find Alana and Marko trying to make their lives work. At first, I wasn't an enamoured with this volume - the idea of Alana taking drugs seemed so cliched, and everything about Alana wasn't cliched in my view. I still stand by that view, but a lot happens in this volume, and that 'a lot' makes up for the drugs story. Robot babies (the birthing scene at the start is eye-opening!), kidnappings, terrorists, unusual team ups, and adorable toddler Hazel lay a whole heap of groundwork for future volumes, while also progressing existing threads. In the end, I was excited for the next one, though I sometimes think Mr Vaughan needs to give our star-crossed lovers just a little break!! They deserve it!!
